Welcome to the Guesthouse

This intimate and cozy, compact yet well equipped, self contained waterfront cabin has just about everything you will need for a weekend away from city life. Located towards the east end of Palmerston Lake, in a small bay-like setting, it is perfect for a couple who enjoys the out of doors and just need a place to lay their heads down at night. Being a bachelor/motel style/ efficiency unit, the couch serves as your double sofa bed for sleeping at night.

A well stocked kitchenette including a large toaster oven, microwave, 2 burner hotplate, fridge, sink with H/C water, all dishes and cutlery, pots and pans, toaster, kettle, tea pot etc. makes meal preparation convenient.

A 3 piece bathroom with a modern shower stall plumbed with clean lake water, a closet, lunch counter with chairs, a T.V. with VCR are all included for your convenience. All blankets and pillows are provided; please bring your own linen and towels, also paper products. All windows and doors are screened offering a breeze from the lake. The guesthouse is heated with electric heat throughout. An intimate front yard with picnic table bordering the lake, a sundeck atop a boathouse and an adequately sized screened porch provides comfort and coziness after a fun filled day in this still relatively quiet area in The Land O'Lakes.

Cottage Rental Facilities

Area facilities include convenience Marina/store in Ompah with boat rentals, movie rentals, gas, bait, licenses etc. The next village of Plevna has a restaurant and grocery store, also LCBO. Many golf courses located within one hour, skiing at Calabogie approx. one hour. Close to all groomed snowmobile and ATV trails, drive to the door access from the lake via snowmobile or ATV in the Winter months . Many other lovely lakes in the area on crown land with public access, good fishing and boating. Palmerston Lake is a 5 km long spring fed, crystal clean, clear lake and our shared swimming area offers sandy bottomed,weedfree swimming. Use of pedalboat. We are proud to offer this smoke free, pet free guesthouse and do share the water frontage with any guests occupying our other cottage, The Pioneer.

Rates and Availability

We offer year round availability, with the exception of June, July and August. Our weekend rates are as low as $150.00 for 2 nights, 2 persons only. Deposit is required at time of reservation via Canada Post, time permitting.

Notes

Your hosts live year round on the same property so we prefer couples who are just seeking a quiet getaway. We are always available for assistance and offer our guests the use of our home telephone as unfortunately there is no cell phone service in this area. Parking is provided at the top of the hill behind the cottages, with access to the guesthouse via a common stairwell, or by water. The boat launch is a short distance away. Palmerston Lake offers good Bass and Lake Trout fishing.

Many golf courses are located within a one hour drive and downhill skiing at Calabogie is approximately a one hour drive also. The guesthouse is just a few minutes away from many groomed snowmobile and ATV trails, and during the winter months you can drive right to your front door via the lake. There are many other accessible lakes in the area on crown land with good public access which offer good fishing and boating. Palmerston Lake is a 5 km long spring fed, crystal clean, clear lake and our shared, weed free swimming area has a nice sandy bottom. All of our cottages are pet free and smoke free.

Situated on the quieter (east) end of Palmerston Lake near the public boat launch and the OCA Fish Hatchery, 4 km to Ompah. Driving time from Ottawa is approximately 1.45 hours southwest of Ottawa, 1.5 hours north of Kingston from the 401, 3.5 hours east of Toronto. 35 minutes north of highway #7 at Sharbot Lake, 40 minutes west of Lanark.
