Palmerston Lake and Area

Home / Palmerston Lake and Area

Palmerston Lake is one of a few clear water spring fed lakes in the area. It is a paradise for swimming, boating and fishing with many coves and bays to explore and average summer water temperatures as warm as 24C. It is approximately 5 km in length, has a surface area of 5.39 km (2), has depths ranging from 20-56 meters and has a strong Lake Trout and Bass habitat; although is stocked from time to time to supplement the natural Lake Trout population. The lake is also part of the OFSC snowmobile trail system in District 1 which connects to miles of scenic crown land trails, accessible directly from our cottages. Experience the exhilaration and fun of snowmobiling and ATV’ing on EOTA trails in our winter playground.

Ompah is a very small community whose population triples during high season. A very friendly Sports/Marina/General Store offers boat rentals, movie rentals, gas, bait, licenses, dry goods, take-out ice cream, maps and information. The next village of Plevna, about a 15 minute drive, has a nice family restaurant attached to a Fresh-Mart grocery store, gas, propane and bottle return. The village has an LCBO, a seasonal bakery and a couple of small local arts and crafts outlets as well as a Flea Market.

With over 250,000 fresh water lakes and rivers, Ontario is well known for its’ picturesque cottage country. Part of the Canadian Shield, North Frontenac consists of rock, forest, lakes and rivers.
